We have an exciting opportunity for a Groundskeeper to join our team in Adelanto, CA.

Under minimal supervision, this position is responsible for maintenance and repair of the grounds and outside fixtures. Operates a variety of mechanical equipment and hand tools. Mixes and uses chemicals.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Performs a combination of cutting lawns, trimming and edging around walkways, roads, flowerbeds and walls.
  • Prunes shrubs, trees and plants. Rakes up leaves and litter.
  • Performs periodic inspections of plants and grasses. Determines need for changes in care schedules.
  • Determines the timetable for fertilizer and disease/pest control programs. Mixes and uses chemicals, some of which may be hazardous materials subject to special handling requirements.
  • Assembles, installs, modifies and maintains irrigation systems and plumbing with little or no direction. May perform trade work such as carpentry or painting.
  • Suggests planning and design modifications to landscape.
  • Operates tractors or other equipment with attachments such as mower, fertilizer spreader, rototiller, sod remover, backhoe, lawn roller, etc.
  • May provide direction to less experienced staff and train new personnel
  • Responsible for observing all laws, regulations and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company.
  • Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.
  • Other duties as assigned or required.

Job Qualifications:
  • Typically requires a high school diploma or equivalent and three or more years of experience performing a wide range of moderately complex gardening and landscaping tasks.
  • Requires specialized knowledge of accepted gardening techniques with the ability to use considerable initiative where required.
  • May require a valid California drivers license with a good driving record as determined by the DMV.
  • Must have complete knowledge and understanding of safe lifting and handling of lawn equipment, machinery and toxic chemicals.
  • Work is performed outside often during inclement weather with little or no supervision.
  • Assignments are moderately complex in nature and may require physical stamina to complete tasks.
  • Considerable judgment is required in resolving problems and making recommendations.
  • Bi-lingual skills (English-Spanish) are desired.
