GA-EMS offers modular and scalable satellite platforms backed with a history of operational flight experience to support defense, civil, commercial, and academic mission requirements.
We currently have an exciting opportunity for an Associate Ground Satellite Software Developer working on satellite Command and Control systems to join our team located in Englewood, CO.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Primary duties are to develop ground satellite software applications, interface software and database and telemetry processing for satellite systems.
- Perform flight segment (satellite operations) software architecture design as part of the overall satellite system solution.
- Perform all aspects of the software development lifecycle including requirements definition, software design, development, test, debug and documentation.
- Design, develop and verify test software and simulation capability.
- Troubleshoot system anomalies related to software, system configuration, network interfaces and operating system issues.
- Support functional and performance testing of equipment, subsystems and systems in support of satellite assembly, integration and test.
- Apply technical knowledge to analyze, investigate and resolve engineering problems, including future applications, and engineering developments.
- Help prepare technical responses to bids, presentation materials and reports, for a variety of applications and customers.
- Helps to support and actively participate in customer and supplier meetings and presentations at all project stages.
- Liaise with customer and supplier staff, and staff from other parts of GA.
- Performs other duties assigned.
- We offer a 9x80 work schedule where you will have every other Friday off.

Job Qualifications:
- Typically requires a bachelors or masters degree in computer science, information systems or related discipline and two or more years progressive software development experience with a bachelors degree. May substitute equivalent experience in lieu of education.
- Previous experience in developing ground satellite software applications highly desired.
- Must have a complete understanding of software development concepts, principles, and theory and demonstrate complete understanding and application of programming and analysis concepts.
- Must possess the ability to understand new concepts quickly and apply them accurately throughout an evolving environment.
- Ability to organize, schedule, and coordinate work phases and, determine the appropriate approach at the task level or, with assistance, at the project level and to provide solutions to a range of complex problems.
- Experience in software development with C/C++ and Python languages
- Familiarity of:
- Software development life cycle (Req, Design, Implementation, Test)
- Agile SCRUM development process
- Linux development environment C
- Cloud development
- Desired experience with:
- Java
- Embedded software development and real-time application experience (i.e. experience with real-time Linux or VxWorks)
- CI/CD pipelines experience (i.e. DevOps pipelines, DevSecOps pipelines)
- Atlassian tools (JIRA, BitBucket, Bamboo)
- Docker containers
- Familiarity with all aspects of the satellite system life cycle is desired.
- The ability to obtain and maintain DoD Secret clearance is required. Active Top Secret clearance is desired.
