GA-EMS offers modular and scalable satellite platforms backed by operational flight experience to support defense, civil, commercial, and academic missions.

General Atomics is seeking a motivated and experienced Electrical Integration Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for working on requirements development, documentation, integration, and test documentation and execution for advanced electrical systems supporting satellite missions.

The successful candidate will report to the Space Electrical Design Team Manager and, alongside a team of expert engineers, will play a key role in supporting the development and engineering of cutting-edge satellite and space systems, advanced sensors, high-energy lasers, photonic devices, motors and drives, defense products, and other innovative technologies within GA-EMS’s expanding portfolio.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Develop and manage electrical system requirements, ensuring traceability and alignment with mission objectives.
  • Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including system specifications, interface control documents, test plans, and integration procedures.
  • Design and execute electrical integration and testing procedures for complex systems, ensuring compliance with performance, reliability, and cost constraints.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical, software, and systems engineering, to ensure seamless system integration and compatibility.
  • Perform troubleshooting and debugging of electrical systems during integration and testing phases.
  • Support environmental testing (thermal, vibration, EMI/EMC) of electrical systems, including test planning, execution, and data analysis.
  • Stay updated on advancements in electrical integration techniques and technologies, proactively identifying opportunities for innovation and improvement.
  • Participate in technical reviews, including requirements, design, and test procedure reviews, to ensure alignment with industry standards and best practices.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, providing technical expertise and updates on project progress.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to less experienced team members.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or required.

Job Qualifications:
  • Typically requires a bachelors degree, masters degree or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and progressive engineering experience as follows; six or more years of experience with a bachelors degree, four or more years of experience with a masters degree, or two or more years with a PhD. May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education.

Required Experience:
  • Hands-on experience with electrical systems integration, including design, documentation, and testing.
  • Familiarity with test equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, signal generators, and spectrum analyzers.
  • Knowledge of environmental testing procedures (thermal, vibration, EMI/EMC).
  • Experience with system-level troubleshooting and debugging of electrical systems.

Desired Skills:
  • Experience with Altium PCB Design Software, PADS PCB Design Software, SPICE circuit simulation tools, HyperLynx Signal/Power Integrity tools, ANSYS Signal Integrity tools, Atlassian Tools, Microsoft Project.
  • Demonstrate technical expertise and application of engineering principles, concepts, theory, and practice with the ability to organize, plan, schedule, conduct, and coordinate workloads to meet established deadlines or milestones with some experience in project leadership.
  • Must possess the ability to understand new concepts quickly and apply them accurately throughout an evolving project environment.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills to effectively interface with other. departments, customers, government representatives, and/or professionals.
  • Capable of representing the organization as a prime technical contact.
  • Customer-focused and able to formulate plans based on the development of innovative new designs in resolving advanced technical engineering problems.
  • Must be able to work on a self-initiated basis or in a team environment.
  • Must be able to prepare and conduct detailed technical presentations and reviews for all levels of management, professional and support staff, customers, potential customers, and government representatives.
  • Active and current TS/SCI clearance required/desired
