We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Satellite Ground System and Ops IPT Lead to join our team located in Englewood, CO.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Supports design updates and development of mission system, ground segment and subsystem design, integration and test.
  • Generate Analysis or Inspection reports for respective subsystem requirements
  • Run product team in an agile framework while taking a hybrid approach to report performance
  • Perform CAM duties in support of project engineer/ program management
  • Provide proactive and pragmatic Fault Detection, Isolation and Recovery (FDIR) design and interfaces to ensure mission requirements are satisfied by SV design.
  • Develop FDIR test scenarios and support test plan and procedure development to ensure SV FDIR design is fully tested.
  • Responsible for mission operations artifacts and procedures
  • Support program design and readiness reviews.
  • Supports operation of engineering systems and documents any problems.
  • Opportunities will arise to support internal development and new business opportunities.
  • Devises new approaches to resolve unusual or complex engineering problems.
  • Troubleshoot conflicting design/development requirements, difficult coordination requirements, and special material requirements.
  • Provides documentation and makes technical presentations as required.
  • Conducts mission and program specific real time spacecraft and satellite flight operations during launch, commissioning and operations phases of mission.
  • Develops detailed plans and procedures to provide maximum mission support.
  • Provides technical direction for complex orbit mission support, plans for critical vehicle malfunctions and recommends alternate operating techniques to continue maximum mission support.
  • Plan and execute satellite tasking and maintenance, executing and implementing procedures to monitor and control spacecraft and automated ground station.
  • Schedule ground system resources.
  • Review and interpret real-time and trended satellite telemetry data, conducting failure analysis of the performance of the orbiting satellites and providing effective solutions as necessary.
  • Provide timely response and direction to protect system during an anomaly.
  • Record, report, and analyze spacecraft mission data, health data, and logs, observing data for anomalies, preparing summaries of data via written tabulations, charts, graphs, and reports as necessary.
  • Support future satellite mission development and operational concept development.
  • Create and update satellite system operations procedures and documentation.
  • Represent the work area as a primary contact; may possibly initiate procurement of materials, services, and parts required for equipment, and provides necessary liaison with vendors.
  • May act as Lead Operator. Provides technical assistance to lower level operators in work area.
  • Responsible for observing all laws, regulations and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company.
  • Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Job Qualifications:
  • Typically requires a bachelors degree, masters degree or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and progressive engineering experience as follows; twelve or more years of experience with a bachelors degree, ten or more years of experience with a masters degree, or seven or more years with a PhD. May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education.
  • Must have prior experience in space domain and ground segment design.
  • Experience in MBSE, SysML modeling, maintaining a SSOT for design is desired
  • CAM experience, or support to CAM role
  • Work as part of scrum team, manage Jira stories, sprint planning, track burndown/up
  • Must have a thorough understanding of engineering concepts, principles, codes, and theory; experience demonstrating a broad application of those concepts; and, expanding knowledge of principles, concepts, theory, and practices in related technical specialties.
  • Experience developing test plans, procedures, planning automated testing of sw systems
  • Experience using RVTM and ensuring fully integrated, vetted product is delivered per requirements
  • Must possess the ability to develop and communicate new concepts; apply them accurately throughout an evolving environment; organize, schedule, and coordinate work phases; and, determine the appropriate approach at the task level or, with assistance, at the project level to provide solutions to a range of complex problems.
  • Must have strong communication, computer, documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team; able to perform complex tasks in one or more engineering areas; capable of representing the organization as a prime technical contact and, lead a team of moderately experienced professional employees on single component projects.
  • Must demonstrate extensive knowledge of satellite systems and have a comprehensive technical understanding of principles for their operation. Must possess:(1) the ability to grasp new and complex concepts quickly;(2) the ability to read, interpret, and manipulate sketches, schematics, and other engineering documentation usually contained in MagicDraw
  • (3) the ability to define complex problems, collect, interpret and analyze data, find effective solutions and present findings;(4) strong analytical, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills to accurately document, report, assess situations make judgments, and train and give direction to others; and(5) strong knowledge of computer operations and applications pertinent to the field.
  • Experience with Satellite Mission planning and on-orbit operations.
  • Familiarity with aspects of the satellite system life cycle, including launch, commissioning and operations.
  • Familiarity with Python/C/C++ or comparable scripting language is desired.
  • Experience with Matlab telemetry processing and analysis is desired. Understanding of the FRACAS/RCCA RCCA (Failure Reporting Analysis & Corrective Action System and Root Cause Corrective Action) processes.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment is essential as is the ability to work extended hours as required.
  • Some shift work experience would be an advantage, but not essential
  • US citizenship is required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance is required.

  • SSL encryption (key management)
  • SW encryption development
  • Network transport layer 3 especially TCP/IP
  • AWS cloud architecture/ practitioner
  • Experience developing applications with Python/ Java to guide a technical team
  • Software modem development / integration experience
  • CI/ CD implementation experience
  • SCRUM Team Lead experience
  • EV management

Salary:$116,480 - $208,505
