Job Summary
General Atomics Systems Integration, LLC (GA-SI), an affiliate of General Atomics, is a provider of military and commercial engineering services. GA-SI is a leading-edge expert in systems integration technologies, reliability improvements, and controls system design.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Loads, Dynamics, and Test Engineer at our General Atomics Systems Integration (GA-SI) group in Kaysville, UT. Under general supervision with limited review, this position is responsible for determining and developing effective approaches for resolving a wide range of difficult engineering problems.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Responsible for performing structural analysis (static and dynamic) of aircraft components, assemblies, test fixtures and systems while working in an integrated team.
  • Performs Finite Element Analysis of metallic structures by utilizing computer analysis methods and classical hand-calculation methods. Analysis may include stress, stability, high and low cycle fatigue, damage tolerance, fracture analysis, random vibration, shock, development of loads from time histories, etc.
  • Supports the development of structural test plans, instrumentation requirements, on-site testing, and test data analysis.
  • Assignments are normally outlined in terms of overall objectives and anticipated results. Work is reviewed at milestones or at completion for adequacy in meeting objectives.
  • Documents findings, communicates results to engineering staff and makes technical presentations as required. May coordinate segments of a specific project and may have frequent inter- organization and customer contact on difficult technical issues.
  • Provides documentation and makes technical presentations as required.
  • Communicates effectively and professionally in all interactions through both written and verbal methods.
  • Plans for future applications of solutions based on new developments in engineering technology and approaches.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Responsible for observing all laws, regulations and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of General Atomics. Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications:
  • Typically requires a bachelors degree, masters degree or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and progressive engineering experience as follows; six or more years of experience with a bachelors degree, four or more years of experience with a masters degree, or two or more years with a PhD. May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education.
  • Must have a complete understanding of engineering concepts, principles, codes, and theory; experience demonstrating a broad application of those concepts; and, expanding knowledge of principles, concepts, theory, and practices in related technical specialties, while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.
  • Must be familiar with stress, dynamics, and vibration analysis of metal structures. Composite material behavior and laminate theory is also desired.
  • Finite Element Analysis experience with tools such as ANSYS, ABAQUS, or FEMAP/NASTRAN.
  • A working knowledge of FAA and Mil-Spec airworthiness requirements is preferred.
  • Must possess the ability to understand new concepts quickly, apply them accurately throughout an evolving environment, organize, schedule, and coordinate work phases, and determine the appropriate approach at the task or project level to provide solutions to a range of complex problems.
  • Must have excellent communication, computer, documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • May be asked to lead a team of less experienced professional employees on semi-routine tasks.
  • Able to work extended hours as required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain DoD Security Clearance is required.

Salary:$89,110 - $155,680
