We have an exciting opportunity for an Industrial Mechanic to join our Facilities Technical Maintenance team at GA. The position will be located in Palmdale, CA.

Under limited supervision, this position is responsible for servicing, modifying, rebuilding, and repairing the facility mechanical equipment in accordance with applicable building, plumbing and mechanical codes, manufacturer's operation and maintenance manuals, and safety regulations. Performs periodic inspection to locate and determine cause of equipment malfunction. Conducts maintenance program to prevent failure. Checks and tests for leaks. Sets and adjusts controls and regulators. Overhauls equipment.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Installs compressed air, gas, water, and sewer lines. Unplugs drains and sewers lines.
  • Performs basic plumbing and mechanical duties such as installing fixtures including water heaters, faucets, sinks, toilets, and urinals. Replaces failed parts.
  • Replaces filters in HVAC equipment and filters and bottles in the DI and RO water systems.
  • Troubleshoots basic plumbing and HVAC systems.
  • Calibrates and repairs temperature sensors for HVAC systems while making emergency repairs as required.
  • Performs periodic inspection to locate and determine cause of equipment malfunctions. Conducts maintenance program to prevent failure of plumbing, compressors and HVAC systems.
  • Lubricates and properly aligns motors and pumps. Replaces belts, pulleys, shafts, bearings, rotors, and impellers for motors and pumps.
  • Calibrates and repairs temperature sensors for HVAC systems.
  • Inspects safety systems such as fire extinguishers, exit lights, hose cabinets to the criteria established by safety guidelines.
  • May perform building maintenance tasks as required.
  • May participate in operating and identifying issues with Direct Digital Controls (DDC).
  • Responsible for observing all laws, regulations and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company. Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices
  • Other duties as assigned or required.

Job Qualifications:
  • Typically requires a high school diploma or equivalent, military class C school or Military Occupation Specialty (MOS), and five or more years of progressive experience as an apprentice plumber or HVAC mechanic. Equivalent professional experience may be substituted in lieu of education.
  • Must demonstrate considerable knowledge of construction industry mechanic concepts and regulations as well as plumbing and mechanical codes.
  • Must be able to read, interpret and understand schematics and able to assist in the preparation of sketches and processes.
  • Must have a working knowledge of and discretion in safely operating hand and power tools.
  • Must be customer focused and possess:
    • a valid California driver's license with a good driving record verified by the DMV;
    • EPA certification in refrigerant recovery;
    • strong analytical skills to use Management Control Systems to determine current status of operating equipment and plumbing systems;
    • strong interpersonal skills to work with all levels of employees, outside vendors and contractors;
    • strong verbal and written communication skills to accurately document and report findings;
    • the ability to resolve moderately complex issues that require evaluation and interpretation;
    • strong knowledge of computer operations and application pertinent to the field.
  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment is essential as is the ability to work extended hours as required. Two-year technical degree or trade school equivalent desirable.
