We have an exciting opportunity for a Director of Sustainment to join our Global Sustainment team in Poway, CA.
Primary responsibility is leading the deployment of the SkyGuardian Global Sustainment Solution (SGSS). This is a customer facing leadership position requiring an understanding of advanced aerospace and engineering programs, production, delivery, sustainment and contractual obligations across multiple locations and customers. Requires a thorough understanding of company and customer motivations and concerns. Evaluating and resolving difficult problems, both internal and external to the company, is a key element of this position. Typically accomplishes objectives through guiding peers and subordinates. Responsible for a program that represents a key factor in the company’s strategic business objectives where erroneous decisions could affect the long-term financial position of the organization.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead the SGSS team in support of MQ-9B fielding efforts for four P&Ls. Overall responsibility for performance and profitability of multiple international contracts and three newly established service centers.
- Consult with executive management to develop and implement current, annual and long-term technical, schedule, quality, business, and financial objectives for assigned programs and participate in the development of Group/Company objectives with a long-range forecast.
- Influence the decisions of senior leaders both within and outside the company on significant matters. Represent the organization in relations with customers, and business and non-business communities. Act as primary spokesperson on program issues.
- Direct the preparation of Direct Commercial Sales (DCS) and FAR-compliant proposals, budgetary estimates, statements of work, operating budgets, and financial terms/conditions of contract(s). Influence contract acquisitions, negotiations and modifications.
- Ensure technical leadership and excellence is maintained by overseeing the planning, attraction, selection, retention, and development of the required management, professional, and technical talent.
- Support Program Directors and Managers in their customer contacts for program activities and participate in selected program review sessions with customers to discuss cost, schedule, and technical performance.
- Support the development of new business opportunities and expansion of existing business opportunities. Participate with Group management in pursuing business partnerships, alliances, and joint ventures that enhance the capabilities of the Group/Company and which may result in new products, programs and business opportunities.
- Oversee the development of long-term support partnerships with critical external providers of sustainment services.
- Develop and implement a long-term staffing plan which is flexible enough to account for variations in timeline from contract award to start of SGSS work.
Job Qualifications:
- Typically requires a Bachelors, Masters or PhD in engineering, science or a related technical field as well as fifteen or more years of progressively complex program administration experience with at least nine of those years managing programs. May substitute equivalent experience in lieu of education.
- Demonstrates detailed and extensive technical expertise and application of program management principles, concepts, and practice as well as comprehensive program management and leadership skills including organizing, planning, scheduling, and coordinating workloads to meet established deadlines or milestones.
- Must possess the ability to self-prioritize among multiple competing demands for action
- Strategic thinker/collaborator who can pivot on a dime from vision-casting to detailed task accomplishment
- Strong communicator/presenter who is an effective interface with other departments, all levels of management, professional and support staff, customers, potential customers, and government representatives.
- Must be comfortable briefing detailed, paradigm-breaking concepts to executive leaders within GA, GA-ASI and our customer’s organizations.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD secret security clearance.
