Job Summary General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI), an affiliate of General Atomics, is a world leader in proven, reliable remotely piloted aircraft and tactical reconnaissance radars, as well as advanced high-resolution surveillance systems.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Drafter to join our Electrical Engineering department within the ASI Division in Poway, CA.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Studies and understands the fundamentals in the creation of neat, legible drawings.
  • Typically requires a high school diploma or equivalent and one or more year(s) of experience as an entry level drafter. May substitute additional education in lieu of work experience.
  • Learns standard CAD drafting techniques and skills required to perform the required tasks which include but are not limited to creating and modifying 2D geometry, creating and changing text and dimensions.
  • Prepares detail engineering drawings from given data such as previous drawings, layouts, detailed sketches, and standard references.
  • Revises CAD drawings, working from instructions, marked prints, sketches, change notices, etc. prepared by others.
  • Repairs or redraws damaged drawings, including re-dimensioning and simple tolerancing.
  • Makes basic decisions but refers most questions to more experienced personnel.
  • Verifies own completed work, checking dimensions, materials to be used, and quantities.
  • Knowledge of basic drawing techniques and skills using 2D CAD, schematic capture systems, and familiarity with industry practices and standards.
  • Requires intermediate knowledge in trigonometry, algebra, and plane and solid geometry as generally acquired through high school and/or trade school studies.
  • Requires good organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of computer operations, Microsoft Office applications, and software relevant to drafting tasks.
  • The ability to maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information and the ability to work both independently and in a team environment is essential as is the ability to work extended hours as required.
  • Responsible for observing all laws, regulations, and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company.
  • Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.
  • Experience with KeyCreator (CADKey) or equivalent, and Zuken E3 or other design tree-based CAD software.

Job Qualifications:

  • Must have a working knowledge of basic drawing techniques and be skilled using 2D and 3D CAD modeling.
  • Must be familiar with industry practices and standards.
  • Requires intermediate knowledge in trigonometry, algebra, and plane and solid geometry as generally acquired through high school and/or trade school studies.
  • Requires good organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Must have a sound knowledge of computer operations and software relevant to drafting tasks.
  • The ability to maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information and the ability to work both independently and in a team environment is essential as is the ability to work extended hours as required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain DoD Security clearance is required.

Salary:$48,160 - $71,598
