Job Summary General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI), an affiliate of General Atomics, is a world leader in proven, reliable remotely piloted aircraft and tactical reconnaissance radars, as well as advanced high-resolution surveillance systems.

We have an exciting career opportunity for an Electrical Test Engineer in Poway, CA. working in our Unmanned Aircraft Systems group. The Electrical Test engineering department designs automated test platforms for remotely piloted air vehicles, ground support equipment, and engines as well as real time data acquisition platforms for flight and ground testing. Typical tasks involve designing turnkey hardware and software solutions for unique scenarios such as avionics control, engine stands, test equipment, and data acquisition systems.

Automated developers are responsible for projects from the initial design planning through productization and sustainment.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Develop, maintain, and deploy software using a variety of software languages, primarily LabVIEW or C.
  • Design schematics for automated test platforms and be familiar with schematics and CAD tools.
  • Communicate software and hardware design concepts.
  • Follow department standards for software and hardware development, including peer reviews and proper source control etiquette.
  • Develops appropriate documentation related to designated task, ranging from design, test plans, root cause analysis.
  • May be required to make brief technical presentations.
  • Applies technical knowledge to analyze, investigate and resolve assigned engineering problems. Performs functional testing and troubleshooting of equipment and systems in assigned area by utilizing standard engineering and scientific principles.
  • Maintains the strict confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Responsible for observing all laws, regulations, and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company.
  • Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.
  • Perform duties as assigned on site as required with opportunities for remote work.

Job Qualifications:
  • Typically requires a bachelors degree, masters degree or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and progressive engineering experience as follows; six or more years of experience with a bachelors degree, four or more years of experience with a masters degree, or two or more years with a PhD. May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education.
  • LabVIEW CLA certification or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience with medium to large scale applications using OOP and PPL techniques.
  • Experience with interpreting schematics and utilizing typical lab equipment, such as oscilloscopes, DMM, power supplies, etc.
  • Working knowledge of software principles.
  • Working knowledge of circuits.
  • Must have a general understanding of computer or electrical engineering concepts, principles, and theory with technical experience demonstrating the application of those concepts while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.
  • Must possess the ability to understand new concepts quickly and apply them accurately throughout an evolving environment and organize work assignments to meet established timetables.
  • Good communication, documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skills are required, as well as the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain DoD security clearance is required.

Salary:$98,100 - $171,398
