Job Summary
This position is for a mid-level engineer in the USAF Lead Off Hitter Development group. The candidate will, under limited direction, work with other functional engineering groups integrating software capabilities for the MQ-9A Unmanned Air Vehicle (UAV) System, including Ground Control Station and Training Systems. In this role, the candidate will work individually and as part of a team to accomplish the given project objectives. Applicant must be able to effectively communicate with all functional engineering departments, all program management specialties, external customers, sub-contractors, and vendors.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Initiate the planning of engineering projects
- Develop innovative designs or modifications to meet project goals
- Communicate and coordinate with other engineering departments (safety, flight technologies, systems, software, quality etc) to complete tasks in accordance with project requirements
- Apply technical knowledge to analyze, investigate and resolve assigned engineering problems
- Resolve conflicting design/development requirements, difficult coordination requirements, and special material requirements
- Perform functional testing and troubleshooting of equipment and systems in assigned area by utilizing standard engineering and scientific principles
- Obtain and analyze test data and document findings
- Recommend solutions to engineering problems based upon investigation findings, test data, and timelines
- Represent the organization as the prime technical contact on small contracts or single component projects in assigned area of expertise
- Make technical presentations to internal staff and customer representatives, as necessary
- Maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive information
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Responsible for observing all laws, regulations and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company
- Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices

Job Qualifications:
- Typically requires a bachelors degree, masters degree or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and progressive engineering experience as follows; four or more years of experience with a bachelors degree or two or more years of experience with a masters degree. May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education.
- Must have a general understanding of engineering concepts, principles, and theory with technical experience demonstrating the application of those concepts while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.
- Must possess the ability to understand new concepts quickly and apply them accurately throughout an evolving environment and organize work assignments to meet established timetables.
- Good communication, computer, documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skills are required, as well as the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to obtain and maintain DoD Security Clearance is required.
Desired Experience:
- Technical project experience including planning, design, documentation, design reviews, testing, scheduling, and presenting technical information
- Familiar with Microsoft Office Software (Word, Excel, Power Point, Project, Visio)
- Common sense application of engineering and physics principals to everyday life
- Background in using and maintaining Unmanned training systems
- General understand of network engineering, software engineering, and/or aerospace engineering
