Job Summary
General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI), an affiliate of General Atomics, is a world leader in proven, reliable remotely piloted aircraft and tactical reconnaissance radars, as well as advanced high-resolution surveillance systems.

This position is for a mid-level engineer in the USAF Lead Off Hitter Development group. The candidate will, under limited direction, work with other functional engineering groups integrating software capabilities for the MQ-9A Unmanned Air Vehicle (UAV) System, including Ground Control Station and Training Systems. In this role, the candidate will work individually and as part of a team to accomplish the given project objectives. Applicant must be able to effectively communicate with all functional engineering departments, all program management specialties, external customers, sub-contractors, and vendors.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Initiate the planning of engineering projects
  • Develop innovative designs or modifications to meet project goals
  • Communicate and coordinate with other engineering departments (safety, flight technologies, systems, software, quality etc) to complete tasks in accordance with project requirements
  • Apply technical knowledge to analyze, investigate and resolve assigned engineering problems
  • Resolve conflicting design/development requirements, difficult coordination requirements, and special material requirements
  • Perform functional testing and troubleshooting of equipment and systems in assigned area by utilizing standard engineering and scientific principles
  • Obtain and analyze test data and document findings
  • Recommend solutions to engineering problems based upon investigation findings, test data, and timelines
  • Represent the organization as the prime technical contact on small contracts or single component projects in assigned area of expertise
  • Make technical presentations to internal staff and customer representatives, as necessary
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive information
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Responsible for observing all laws, regulations and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company
  • Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices

Job Qualifications:
  • Typically requires a bachelors degree, masters degree or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and progressive engineering experience as follows; four or more years of experience with a bachelors degree or two or more years of experience with a masters degree. May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education.
  • Must have a general understanding of engineering concepts, principles, and theory with technical experience demonstrating the application of those concepts while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.
  • Must possess the ability to understand new concepts quickly and apply them accurately throughout an evolving environment and organize work assignments to meet established timetables.
  • Good communication, computer, documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skills are required, as well as the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain DoD Security Clearance is required.

Desired Experience:
  • Technical project experience including planning, design, documentation, design reviews, testing, scheduling, and presenting technical information
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office Software (Word, Excel, Power Point, Project, Visio)
  • Common sense application of engineering and physics principals to everyday life
  • Background in using and maintaining Unmanned training systems
  • General understand of network engineering, software engineering, and/or aerospace engineering

Salary:$81,080 - $141,650
