We have an exciting opportunity for an Avionics and Networks Project Engineer to support our Army Engineering Group in San Diego, CA. In this role you will lead multi-disciplinary teams, to architect, design, integrate, test, qualify, and rapidly field cutting-edge, complex avionics, sensors, and payload solutions into Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) for the US Army customer. Your technical expertise, project and subcontractor management skills, and problem-solving skills will contribute to the development and enhancement of cutting-edge UAS technology, empowering GA-ASI to deliver innovative solutions.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead and manage projects from initiation to completion, ensuring adherence to budget, timeline, and quality standards.
- Collaborate with Program Management and cross-functional teams to define project schedule and budget.
- Lead and coordinate requirements and architecture definition, development and integration test of hardware and software at component, subsystem, and system levels.
- Support lab, ground and flight test activities. Guide data analysis, root cause investigation, and corrective action implementation activities.
- Communicate coordinate project activities with Program Management and subcontractors.
- Prepare and deliver project status and technical briefings to internal and external customers, provide Earned Value Management System (EVMS) updates.
- Prepare technical reports, documentation, and presentations to communicate project progress and findings to stakeholders.
- Support Technical Publications with maintenance and flight manual development and updates.
- Support production and field issues investigation and resolution.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members, fostering their professional growth and ensuring project success.
- Stay abreast of UAS technology advancements and industry trends, leveraging knowledge to drive innovation and enhance operational capabilities.
- Maintain the strict confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Observe all laws, regulations and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company.
- Work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.
Job Qualifications:
- Typically requires a Bachelor's degree, Master's degree or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and progressive engineering experience as follows; four or more years of experience with a Bachelor's degree, two or more years of experience with a Master's degree. May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education.
- Demonstrates a detailed and extensive technical expertise and application of engineering principles, concepts, theory, and practice as well as project and/or program leadership including organizing, planning, scheduling, and coordinating workloads to meet established project deadlines or milestones.
- Must posses the ability to contribute to the development of new concepts and principles; resolve complex technical problems; serve as spokesperson on projects and/or programs; and be a technical expert in one or more areas of engineering.
- Proven experience in managing and executing aerospace projects, preferably in a military or defense setting.
- Strong knowledge of avionics and electrical power generation and distribution components, and subsystems.
- Experience in data networks architecture, protocols, and troubleshooting, familiarity with network security measures and protocols.
- Must be willing to work in a lab environment and have hands on experience working with test equipment.
- Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills are required enabling an effective leadership interface with other departments, all levels of management, professional and support staff, customers, potential customers, and government representatives.
- Must be able to work on a self-initiated basis and in a team environment.
- Able to work extended hours as required.
- Ability to obtain & maintain a DoD Secret Security clearance.
Salary:$81,080 - $141,650
