Job Summary
General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI), an affiliate of General Atomics, is a world leader in proven, reliable remotely piloted aircraft and tactical reconnaissance radars, as well as advanced high-resolution surveillance systems.
We have an exciting opportunity in Poway, California for a Systems Engineer with a strong Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) background to lead and assist on programs requiring system definition and model-based architecture development.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Will work with customers, operators, and end user surrogates to develop Concept of Operations (CONOPS) that lead to detailed system design and requirements.
- Will lead system architecture development through model-based systems engineering (MBSE) building a shared, configuration managed, architecture model at multiple levels that will be used by multiple functional groups and stakeholders on internal and customer funded programs.
- Will be the focal point on programs for system knowledge and design decisions.
- Candidate will be expected to have a solid understanding of the system, subsystems, and components, as well as all internal/external interfaces.
- Will help design and ensure compliance of interfaces between software and hardware using architecture models as the truth source and managing changes within the models when updates are required.
- Will develop data flows, activity diagrams, or sequence diagrams as appropriate to help define hardware and software systems.
- Will work on a wide range of products from Command/Control to Payloads to Exploitation systems, and work with a wide range of highly talented people from many technical disciplines.

Job Qualifications:
- Typically requires a bachelors degree, masters degree or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and progressive engineering experience as follows; nine or more years of experience with a bachelors degree, seven or more years of experience with a masters degree, or four or more years with a PhD. May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education.
- Must have experience with MBSE tools such as Cameo and Jama.
- Must have experience developing comprehensive system architectures with MBSE tools, enforcing compliance to and configuration management of architecture models at all levels.
- Must have experience developing/deriving Use Cases
- Must have experience developing/deriving requirements from Use Cases and System Architecture.
- Must be capable of clearly communicating design and requirements to software/hardware teams for software/hardware implementation.
- Must have subject matter experience in a relevant technology.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance is required.
