We have an exciting opportunity for an engineer to join the GA-ASI Systems Integration Lab (SIL) team in Poway, CA. Under general supervision with minimal review, this position supports the SIL environments for one or more product lines. In this role, the selected candidate will be part of the SIL Engineering team with responsibilities that may include working with hardware, software, and networked computer system solutions to support the SILs; collaborating across the SIL team; supporting multiple SILs; and teaming with coworkers to implement solutions. The role will also include support for project estimating, standardization, directly supporting SIL UAS assets, and assisting engineers from other teams as needed to meet program requirements within the SILs.
The ideal candidate should be enthusiastic about taking a hands-on approach to projects, demonstrating a proactive attitude, and displaying readiness to deeply engage with our technical initiatives upon joining our team.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Lead system-related projects and develop concepts and plans supporting integration and test efforts within the SIL, serving as the primary SIL engineering point of contact and ensuring execution within cost, schedule, and performance requirements.
  • Assist with the translation of system or product requirements into SIL specific verification tests.
  • Oversee the design and implementation of mechanical and electrical support equipment, networked computer systems, and facilities modifications.
  • Work effectively with program management, senior leadership, customers, and engineering leads to plan and execute select SIL projects from inception to completion. These projects often focus on assisting engineers with test setup, enhancing lab infrastructure, developing test apparatuses, and fostering system knowledge sharing.
  • Prepare for and brief leadership and other stakeholders about project plans, progress, and make technical presentations related to test readiness reviews.
  • Adhere to development processes using established methods and tools.
  • Maintain the strict confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Take on high-level problems and organize a technical path forward.
  • Objectives are typically achieved through collaboration with matrix assigned engineering leads or project leaders, while some may come from ongoing projects you are working on.

  • Perform other duties as assigned or required.

Job Qualifications:
  • Typically requires a bachelors degree, masters degree or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and progressive engineering experience as follows; four or more years of experience with a bachelors degree or two or more years of experience with a masters degree. May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education.
  • Ability to quickly grasp and understand the full scope of development activities and come up to speed quickly in new areas.
  • Have excellent written, presentation, and verbal communication skills.
  • Must have a complete understanding of engineering concepts, principles, codes, and theory; experience demonstrating a broad application of those concepts and practices in related technical specialties.
  • Training and/or experience in test or experimental engineering environments desirable.
  • Must be able to perform a variety of non-routine tasks and demonstrate knowledge of avionics and electronics principles.
  • Must possess the ability to understand new concepts quickly; apply them accurately throughout an evolving environment; organize, schedule, and coordinate work phases; and determine the appropriate approach at the task level or, with assistance, at the project level to provide solutions to a range of complex problems.
  • Must have excellent computer, MS Teams IM, email, documentation, and interpersonal skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team, able to perform complex tasks, and lead a team of less experienced professional employees on semi-routine tasks.
