Job Summary General Atomics (GA), and its affiliated companies, is one of the world’s leading resources for high-technology systems development ranging from the nuclear fuel cycle to remotely piloted aircraft, airborne sensors, and advanced electric, electronic, wireless and laser technologies.

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Financial Analyst to join our corporate Financial Planning & Analysis (“FP&A”) organization located in San Diego (Torrey Pines), CA.

The successful candidate will be instrumental in advancing GA’s financial planning capabilities. They will be a strong communicator looking for rapid learning and career advancement opportunities.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Responsible for forecasting the balance sheet and submitting into SAP BPC across all profit centers in General Atomics, including development and maintenance of balance sheet forecasting models, required process communications and input schedules
  • Works with operating divisions and peer functions to develop understanding of working capital concepts and identify actions for cash performance improvement
  • Prepares monthly report and forecast/budget report for finance review including gathering information from various Finance and Operating divisions
  • Prepares monthly balance sheet variance reports for actual vs. budgets/ forecasts, and related reports for specified profit centers, providing the root causes for variance and be an expert to build Ad-Hoc reports as needed
  • Master data governance and super user of SAP BPC program-model and consolidation-model
  • Actively develops the organization by providing coaching and support to peers and less experienced professional staff
  • Supports ongoing operation and continuous improvement of systems and software tools for financial planning
  • Prepares and continuously improves internal team documentation of process flows, work instructions, and job aids
  • Supports other functions and the leadership team with special projects, as needs arise
  • Utilizes MS Office, Excel, Power BI, SAP BPC, and other applications.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required

Job Qualifications:
  • Typically requires a bachelor's degree in business administration with an emphasis in accounting and/or finance and three or more years of progressive professional cost accounting experience in a corporate environment, preferably with a government contractor. May substitute equivalent experience in lieu of education.
  • Demonstrates an extensive technical expertise and application of industry and government accounting principles, theories, concepts, standards, and practices, with the ability to organize, schedule, conduct, and coordinate workloads to meet established milestones with some experience in project leadership
  • Experience with Power BI, SAP BPC and EPM preferred.
  • Maintains the strict confidentiality of sensitive information
  • Must be customer focused and possess:
    • (1) the ability to identify issues and develop solutions to a variety of complex problems of diverse scope and complexity;
    • (2) excellent analytical, verbal and written communication skills to accurately document, report, and present accounting and finance findings:
    • (3) excellent interpersonal skills to influence and guide all levels of employees, including senior managers and senior external parties on accounting and finance matters;
    • (4) the ability to maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information;
    • (5) the ability to initiate, plan, and manage projects;
    • (6) the ability to represent the department or company on projects;
    • (7) excellent computer skills.
  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment is essential as is the ability to work extended hours and travel as required.
